She didn't stop advancing. She was about to open his shirt's buttons , when Hyun-ki stopped her with all his might...
"Stop it Eun Hye!!" He screamed.
"Gosh Hyun-ki! I was helping you practise the steps. How will you propose her without knowing the basics?" irritated Eun Hye asked.
"Was this your so-called training? And these are your basics?" he now understood what she had said at the school's main gate.
"Of course, you stupid! What else?"
He held his head in both his hands..."Grow up Eun Hye!"
He continued, "Have you ever loved someone?"
"Didn't I tell you I had fifteen of them? Do you understand, I have experienced s*x with fifteen guys!!" she argued.
"I am asking about a true love.. TRUE..." He read her expressions which conveyed that she didn't understand what he meant.
"Eun Hye, listen to me. A true love doesn't have to be physical from the basics. I am not saying that you don't f*ck at all while in a relationship, but this is the last stage, okay? It only happens when you have succeeded in all the other levels."
"What are you saying Hyun-Ki, are you talking about all that crap they show in K-dramas? Mutual understanding, Honesty, Trust, Respect, Worrying.. etc. etc.?.... Let me be straightforward Hyun-ki, I don't believe in these.. none of my ex-relationships had any such elements too.. these things are more showbiz than reality.. its only and only s*x that strives your relationship!!" she made her point clear.
"I wonder, how you became a psychologist. Girl, have you ever seen a building getting constructed? Before, constructing a building on the ground, they first dig the ground deep inside...why do they do that?" he looked ideal for his profession. (teacher)
"They build a strong base for the building to stand all adversities." Eun Hye knew that very well.
"All that you call crap are nothing but the base of any relationship.. its not just about a man and a woman, but every relationship... be it a child and a parent, a teacher and a student etc."
"I don't know why a person like you is believing this all.... you are saying those things let the relationship stand any adversity?" Eun Hye continued, "if that's so, then without any offense, why did your parents get divorced.. I always admired them for their mutual understanding."
Hyun-Ki's parents got divorced during his last year in the high school. And he being an 18+ by then, didn't choose any of his parents' custody. This led him to drop his preparations for the bar and begin earning instead. Which is why he chose teaching as his profession.
On Eun Hye's question, he went silent for a bit.
"In a relationship, Eun Hye, all the unsaid rules work together. They all stand on top of each other like a castle of cards, if you remove even a single card from between the structure, your whole castle would go down at once." he replied in a serious tone.
Her wrinkled forehead had started to relax gradually. She did register Hyun-ki's words well into her systems and stood up from there. She leaned on the railings of the ferry and started to stare in the infinity.
The last topic of their heated discussion made Hyun-ki to not want to talk further.
Hence.. they both went silent for the remaining 30 minutes of their journey.
